Cares Act Reporting on Emergency Financial Aid Grant to Students

On March 27, 2020, the Federal government enacted the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act (Cares Act), Pub L. No. 116-136, providing funds to institutions from the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) to make Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus, including eligible expenses under student’s cost of attendance, such as food, course materials, technology, health care, and child care. The law requires institutions to report certain information related to the use of these funds. The following information is reported for the period, August 10, 2020 – September 09, 2020.



Winonah's International School of Cosmetology will distribute Emergency Financial Aid Grants to all students with an active status between March 16, 2020 to June 01, 2020. The students eligible to considered for emergency grant funds must be enrolled in a Title IV approved program, be eligible for federal aid as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), be in good standing and actively participating in courses for a minimum of one week between March 16, 2020 to June 01, 2020. The period determination was made to include school closure, online classes transition and offering and school reopening.
 
The following instructions/directions/guidance will be provided by our institution to students concerning the Emergency Financial Aid Grant.


Emergency Financial Aid Grants to Students Under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (Cares) Act

 

These are unprecedented and challenging times for you and your family. We know you find yourself grappling with issues that you never imagined, and we want to assure you that we are here to support you by providing some financial assistance you may need as you continue your educational journey.

To address the pressing financial need of our students due to the disruption of campus operations from coronavirus, and pursuant to the authority duly delegated to the Secretary under the CARES Act and associated with the coronavirus emergency, as stated in Proclamation 994 of March 13, 202, “Declaring a National Emergency Concerning the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Outbreak,” Federal Register Vol. 85, No. 53 at 15337-38, Winonah's International School of Cosmetology requested emergency financial aid grants for our students.

Winonah's International School of Cosmetology has entered into the Funding Certification and Agreement for Emergency Financial Aid Grants to students for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus.

The students eligible to be considered for emergency grant funds must be enrolled in a Title IV approved program, be eligible for federal aid as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), be in good standing and actively participating in courses between 03/16/2020 to 06/01/2020.

Winonah's International School of Cosmetology has agreed to promptly make available emergency financial aid grants from the advanced funds directly to student and has determined your eligibility accordingly. Please see attached the enclosed check of $_______________________.

Please note that the funds are not repayable as they constitute an emergency grant. The funds are to be used for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care).

Winonah's International School of Cosmetology is working expeditiously to allocate the funding to all remaining eligible students in the upcoming days. We hope this will help provide some relief to you during these trying times.
